Which is the best private insurance company for a child (who is 14 months old) in NEW YORK CITY?
I really don't want the state funded Child Health Plus. I'm looking for a good private insurance.

Are you willing to pay $200 a month? That's about what it will cost, if the child is healthy. If the child has anything wrong, the insurance company at best won't cover that condition, and at worst will refuse to insure the child. Don't buy over the internet. Go to a local agent, who sells health insurance. They will know the best plans with the most providers in YOUR AREA.

Try using yellowpages.com to search for health insurance brokers in your area. Don't call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in health insurance. A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state. New York has some very tough and specific state insurance laws. You really need a broker. You may want to look at the Blue Cross Child Health Plus plan it runs from $136 to $177 depending on where in NY you live.
