How could it possibly affect your child in any way? Your wife does not get pregnant normally on the first time you have sex. So how would anyone know if you had sex or masturbated? The ejaculation is the same. The myth about masturbation causing your children to be mentally retarded is a retarded idea.

Liken it to the roulette wheel. Each "load" of sperm carries the unique individual sperm which will comprise the characteristics of your genes to a future spouse's egg. For example one load may contain a future President of the United States while another load may contain a mass murderer. My own theory is that the healthier you are, the healthier your sperm are, so if you want the best chances of a healthy baby, stay healthy! Other than that, it is fairly random from each load of sperm which one will break through the egg and develop eventually into a baby. The male sperm are the best swimmers though, I have heard that.
