does the new health insurance that allow kids up to age 26 to stay under their parents plan cost the child

does the new health insurance that allow kids up to age 26 to stay under their parents plan cost the child?
Is there an extra charge for the child or is that child covered by the parents plan with no additional cost up to age 26? When I read the new health insurance guidelines it looks like it could be taken either way. Please explain because I have a college student who is in this age group. Thanks

Oh yes, there will be an extra premium cost to insure the child (as there is now). The difference is just that the allowable maximum age for the child is being raised to 26. How that extra cost is structured depends on the specific insurance plan.

It all depends on the plan and if this is the only child or there are multiple children. Having children on a plan costs money, since it is the parent's plan the parents must pay, but that doesn't mean that parent can't tell the child to pay if that's what they want to do. Also, plans with children cost the same if there is 1 child or 100 children.
