i want to ask question on my child's health condition

i want to ask question on my child's health condition?
I have twin daughters aged 2 years old. One of them is only weighed at 9kg. She refuses to eat almost everything and dependent on formula. She drinks her formula basically 18 oz a day. I give her multivitamin with lysine hoping that will improve her appetite. But it doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm very concern about her being malnutriuous and that will affect her development. Is her weight is acceptable for her age and what can I do to make her eat? For info, her twin sister is weighed at 12.5kg.

try the peanut butter shakes kids love them and there nutritious but helps add weight gain. 8 oz of formula or milk 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 bannana
2 :
I just looked at a growth chart. Here's the link: http://www.kidsgrowth.com/stages/viewgrowthcharts.cfm?id=GW036 It seems like she is quite underweight for her age. Are you advised by her doctor to give her formula? Usually, babies are taken off of formula at 12 months. Are there any special circumstances? Premature birth? In a normal situation, I would think that most would say that she needs to be off the formula and she will start to eat. But, I think the very best thing you can do is to take her to a doctor. Soon. As far as making her eat, it's hard to do. You really can't force feed a kid. All you can do is offer it. Good luck.

Would anyone take your 0-5 years of age child to a learning/fun center for children next to a health center

Would anyone take your 0-5 years of age child to a learning/fun center for children next to a health center?
If yes, why and if no why. What would be your concerns if you answered no. Also, would you actually take your child to a learning/fun center, where classes are offered for children and their parents?

yes i would take them to both, why wouldn;t i?
2 :
I would most definatly take my child. it gets them into the groove of being with other children their age. so they are ready for school and it helps them to learn what they need to. talking, etc etc.
3 :
What does the health center have to do with anything? Any learning/fun center I bring my daughter to I just make sure it's clean, secure, and safe. There are a lot of different types of centers - some are just for open play and some have classes. When she gets older I may enroll her in classes but for now it's just open play.

What could be the possible consequences on the mental health of a child who looses his/her mother

What could be the possible consequences on the mental health of a child who looses his/her mother..?

Detrimental if the child doesn't get a chance to grieve and cope with their feelings in a healthy way. Nobody ever recovers from such a huge loss, but it doesn't have to ruin a life. Grieving is complex and it's important that the child has lots of support and reassurance.
2 :
The behaviour of loved ones and friends have more affect on the child than the death itself......if the illness and death is talked about openly, without guilt, distress or avoided, a child copes quite well......they are very adaptable... Every one deals with death differently, so one cannot assume anything, support and guidance is paramount. My nephew"s dad died (my brother) of skin cancer, he hit a low period after his dads death, he missed him so much, he is now 11, and suffers no negative feelings about his dads death.
3 :
The effects may vary from depression to denial. What this child will surely need is love. Treat him/her as normally as possible have a regular routine. Always make time to be available to talk about anything and everything but most importantly be there. Do not simply stop talking about their mum remember the good times, birthday's and holidays. To do other wise will do more harm than good. Let them know what ever they are feeling is normal and that you'll figure it out together.

Why do some Parents care about their Children's Health while others don't bother paying attention

Why do some Parents care about their Children's Health while others don't bother paying attention?
I know from experiences with my Mom that she's always been concerned about my Health and making wise choices in my eating habits. But how about other children's parents are the total opposite? and would rather let their child tell THEM what to make for dinner and what to buy for snacks?

Everyone has different styles of parenting. Some people just don't give a damn. I know I grew up on TV dinners and fast food. That's played a part in me getting even more active in my kids diet. I can't STAND tv dinners....
2 :
That is just to show you how different we all are.
3 :
Some parent's are not ready to be parents yet either. They are growing up with their Children . Most of the time they are too permissive. Good luck to your friend's.
4 :
Some parents just really do not have a clue how to be a praent, specially if they are first timers. If the kid is a picky eater you half to do what you half to do to get them to eat. Me personally I like to give my children choices. Take for instants last night we had a big family gathering, there was bar b que, spegetti, mashes potatoes and potato salad and fried chicken. I let my children chose what thwy wanted but they also had to choose a vegatable and a fruit to eat as well.
5 :
some parents either dont care or they make the mistake of thinking that what their children want is always whats in their best interest, or ocassianally could be tired out, im the oldest of 8, as i got older and the fam got bigger, the less homecooked meals i got, that is until i started cooking for the fam myself.

Different parenting styles. My brothers and I were always included on the dinner decisions, but we knew Burger King, McDonalds, etc were not an option. And now with my kids, they each have one night a week were they get to pick the meal (they know fast food resturants are out). Also, they get to pick one "junk food" snack when I go to the grocery store but they also get the apples, bananas, organges, grapes, yogurts, etc. I care about the health of everyone in my family but I also realize that I can't eliminate all the bad foods so I'm teaching my kids to eat them in moderation.
10 :

Basically you get your nursing degree first. You can go into this field without further training just by applying for a job in the Maternity unit of many hospitals. Or, once you have your BSN degree you can go for a masters degree in Maternal/child health. Your guidance counselor should be able to give you additional helpful information.

You could check with attorney. You might find one at an office supply store. Basicly it must state what the power of attorney covers and be specific as to the powers and list child's name and your name and be signed and notarized and dated. Or that is what I would think. This is not a legal opinion, but my guess. You might check with a local bar association to see if they have blanks to fill out. You might find one on the internet as well.

If you need a power of attorney for child care you can find it at http://www.legalformsbank.biz/powerofattorney.asp

Is there any health concerns with my child sleeping with a cat

Is there any health concerns with my child sleeping with a cat?

I dont think so not unless she is allergic to it.
2 :
no not unless he/she is allergic to cats- i used to sleep with my cat and i was fine
3 :
I don't think so. As long as she is not a baby. Cats do like to sleep on top of chests and warm areas and I've heard they can accidentally suffocate babies. As long as she's old enough to move the cat off should be fine.
4 :
not really unless it has fleas which im sure it doesnt as u must take great care of it having a child around anyways only problem i would find is the cat wanting to play wiv his feet thats wat happens to me ^_^
5 :
Not unless the cat has fleas or any heath problems you child will be fine. My cat loves to roam outside and he sleeps on my bed in the day for a nap and he will come during the night and sleep on my spare pillow. Cats are liter trained and clean them selves well and are very clean animals. Your cat will like the attention too.
6 :
There's an old wive's tail (he, he, he) that if given a chance, a cat will lay on a baby and smother it .... but that is pure foolishness. However, for allergy, cat hair, ear mites, worms & other sanitary reasons, it;s best if kitty doesn't sleep with the baby very often.
7 :
no there is nothing wrong with that it means your child and your cat are good friends with each other share my cat sleeps on my tummy when i go to bed hope i have helped you ......
8 :
No problem. Just ignore all the experts that advise against it and do whatever suits you personally. or Listen to the experts that advise against this practise and only allow cats around children that are supervised.
9 :
Unless the cat has ringworm or another contagious condition or a lot of fleas, there are no health concerns of a cat sleeping with a child that I have ever heard of. Bailey regularly sleeps next to me, I sleep on my left side and Bailey snuggles up next to me. Murphy routinely sleeps right next to or partially on my wife. Other cats sleep on other areas of the bed, including between us, and between us on the pillows. In cold weather we have quite a few cats sleeping on the bed with us. Enough that our queen sized bed becomes rather crowded. We've never had any problems - other than a cat getting a bit pushy and wanting more bed space - with cats sleeping with us. If the cat regularly sleeps with the child it can be quite a nice and comforting thing for the child. The fact that a cat will sleep next to or near you means that the cat trusts you a lot and to have a trusting cat is to have one of the most wonderful things in the world. Let the cat sleep with your child unless the cat has a condition that can be passed on the to child. If such a condition exists, get the cat to the vet to have it dealt with. *** Edit *** I should have added that many studies show that children who grow up around animals have fewer allergies and develop asthma far less often that children who do not grow up around animals. Children raised in super clean environments often develop more allergies than children allowed to play "in the dirt."

How do you feel about the healthcare law that makes parents keep their children on their health insurance

How do you feel about the healthcare law that makes parents keep their children on their health insurance?
This law makes parents keep their children on their health care until they are 26 and in some states 31. I don't agree with this. I agree with 23 at the most. If you are 26 and can not support yourself that is a shame. What do you think? Of course it is different if you are helping a child that was laid off from work. This law covers married children also.

it is not mandatory. It is optional for parents to do this. Some insurance companies have started it already even though it does not really kick in until September. If you are employed with no group insurance or unemployed, instead of going to the ER and having the government pay, or getting on Medicaid and having the government pay all of your care, why not stick you in your parents insurance? As long as the adult child does not have an employee health plan you can do it. You do not have to be a student.

are there any health risks or concerns for a child whos Mother was gestational diabetic?
I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with my son (now 3) Just wondering if gestational diabetes is linked to any illnesses in children? sorry- i am talking about problems once the birth. He is nearly 3 now. Was avg. at birth and sugars were all ok that didnt make sense. After the birth has already taken place, like any issues for toddlers or other children

hi, the more important risk in the son´s of mothers with any kind of diabetes is express in the future diabetes. If your child born whit high weigh he can be in danger to develop Diabetes. By the age of the child is difficult to identify. but when he grow up you must to take care of the symptoms and the diet.
2 :
Infants of mothers with gestational diabetes are vulnerable to several chemical imbalances, such as low serum calcium and low serum magnesium levels, but in general, there are two major problems of gestational diabetes: macrosomia and hypoglycemia (high birth weight & low blood sugar right after delivery)
3 :
There are only health risks and concerns if your blood sugars weren't controlled during your pregnancy. If your child came out healthy at a good weight then your child should be okay. If your sugars weren't controlled and your child had problems right after birth, they will be at increased risk for type 2 diabetes. --edit-- My answer didn't make sense? I was talking about a toddler or older ... if your blood sugars were controlled durning pregnancy then your child should be in the clear. Any risk of type 2 diabetes your child has is only from heredity. I had GD while pregnant, and my daughter came out perfectly healthy. She is now 2 1/2 and has type 1 diabetes, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the GD.

It could be because the elderly will be relied on more to maintain the system at the expense of retirement although voluntary now this could change,it will affect health, illness, child bearing also happening with nigh on octogenarians. With aging population for some strange reason the young tend to take more time to the pursuit of pleasures than in earning a living which tends to lead to criminal activities and a more slap on the wrist type of justice to maintain rightly or wrongly an available younger workforce which doesn't seem to want to work for the better of society as a whole and more for personal gain or maybe what could be termed personal freedom as the need for even more free time is needed to recover from their efforts used in said free time pursuits. No marriages and more single mums having to take their children to work with eventual child labour, creches having to be provided so why not employ the children on humanitarian grounds to stop them growing into idle ne'er do wells. It actually could possibly return 1984 scenario.Brave new world.

health insurance without child support

health insurance without child support?
Can i keep my baby's health insurance without getting child support? I had a baby with my ex boyfriend, and we split up, I don't want child support on him but the state picked it up and wants him to pay. If I go before a judge and say I don't want him to pay child support will they take away my son's health insurance? Someone told me if I refuse the child support they'll take away his health insurance. Is that true.
Law & Ethics - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Of the very few rights your child has, one is the right to be supported by both parents. What possibly could justify doing away with half of the resources available to your child? Do not think about what is convenient for you. Think about the needs of your child. If you can do away with this resource for your child (the child's father's financial support), why should the taxpayers pony up the expensive health insurance?
2 :
The reason the state is after the father for support is because you are receiving government aide in the form of health care for your child. As long as the health care is paid for by tax dollars, the father needs to pony up. Get a job, a job with health care and tell the father to do the same. It all goes away, however they will still require that the father repay the government. Refusing the support will not cancel the health insurance.
3 :
Separate issues, I assume the health care ( insurance) is thur your boy friends employer? If that's the case the courts can decree that your boyfriend is responsible for providing health insurance for the child. He would be responsible for paying the dependent rate to add the baby to his health plan. You need to be aware that that would not necessarily include any deductibles or co pays that the coverage might have.If your baby required care you would have to pay the Dr. or Hosp. those charges.
4 :
They will probably take away the insurance if you refuse to ask for child support. Why should the taxpayers pay for insurance for your child and his father gets away scott free. If you receive any type of government benefits, the father is required to pay support and reimburse the state for money given for his child.
5 :
make use of the SE like google or yahoo to get some ideas first if you want to get the massive information, however if you do not want to spend so much time, here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/free-online-health-insurance.htm is a direct and good resource for your questions.
6 :
These other posters are not professionals and subsequently do not know what they are talking about. Yes, you can keep the health insurance and elect not to get child support, it's a medical-only case and many people do it. Federal law (and state laws) entitle all children to support, that includes both cash and medical. The only way they would take your medical away is if you closed your case completely, which you don't have to do.

My husband pays child support, do both he and the custodial parent need to add the child on theyre health ins?
I am asking because my husband was recently issued to put his child on his insurance, which the childs mother also has health insurance...that doesn't seem fair to me for him to just pay all of the health cost plus child support. Please help! maybe i failed to explain myself---we also have children and i never said he couldn't support his child it just needs to be fair for both parties. END OF STORY!
Marriage & Divorce - 12 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Just because he divorced the child's mother and married you, doesn't end his obligation to his children. Forget about what's fair for you or your husband and think about what's fair for the child.
2 :
It's ultimately up to the court. However, if your husband makes more money than his ex then he'll most likely always have to cover the health insurance.
3 :
mind ur business that child existed in his life before u
4 :
Its all a matter of numbers and figures and probably just ended up working out that way. The child should really be on the best insurance out of the two of them. Thats how it was determined for us.
5 :
Wah! Wah! I want my husband's past to disappear! My money shouldn't have to go toward his kid, who I secretly wish would cease to exist! Wah! Wah! People like you should not marry people with prior children.
6 :
My kids are on my insurance because it's better insurance and I make slightly more than him. I do get child support too but like someone said, it's up to the court.
7 :
In NY The Child Support Collection Unit insists that BOTH parents have health insurance on the kids...for their own protection so I am not surprised that the Courts have ordered BOTH your husband and his child's mother insure the child. Both my ex and I had to have health insurance on the kids...so what.
8 :
If it's court ordered ,it's got to be done as said !
9 :
if it was ordered by the court that he have insurance for the children then yes he has to. but only if his place of employment offers a plan. this way what ever his/her insurance doesnt pay the other will.
10 :
The father's insurance would be primary, the mother's insurance will be secondary, or visa verse depending upon the insurance companies. It doesn't matter whether it seems fair to you. He made the choice to make a baby with the child's mother, he has to be responsible for caring for that child. The fact that you don't think it's fair is too bad, you chose to marry this guy who had previous responsibilities. The child will always come first whether you like it or not.
11 :
Most states require that both parties have the child on their insurance if they have the option to add dependents on their health care plan. The child will be covered under both policies - which is nice because that usually means less out of pocket copays and deductibles that your husband and the mother will pay according to the child support order. It's likely that the mother has the child on her insurance too. Typically copays are to be paid by parents based on the percentage of their income - so if they made the same amount of money the copays would be split 50/50. Having two insurance policies could mean little to no copays. Sounds like the mother at least works...what's unfair about sharing health care costs??
12 :
Yes, many states require the father to carry the insurance, regardless of whether the mother does, or his ability to. But, your child support guideline may allow for a deduction for a portion of the cost. Caution of children health after pulling out one tooth urgently

Caution of children health after pulling out one tooth urgently?
what is the caution required after the doctor pull out a tooth from child 5 years old? The doctor said that there is no treatment and it should be removed otherwise the permanent tooth will be affected. So how can I take care from my child after that?

I've heard that pulling out too many teeth can stunt bone growth in the jaw and other teeth. i think it' kinda like plucking eyebrows. Once you've pulled out the hair so many times, it just doesn't grow back. I bet one tooth pulled is fine though. I mean, what else can you do? If it needs to be done, do it.
2 :
buy them ice cream. it's cold so it's not bad for them after the tooth is pulled out, plus the most kids like it.
3 :
I had to have all my baby teeth pulled none of them fell out I have now a very healthy set of teeth and am in my 40"s I wouldn't worry
4 :
Just buy them ice cream. The cold will feel good. And maybe ask the doctor if you can be back their with him/her. He/she will feel comfortable with you near by.

Which is the best private insurance company for a child (who is 14 months old) in NEW YORK CITY?

Are you willing to pay $200 a month? That's about what it will cost, if the child is healthy. If the child has anything wrong, the insurance company at best won't cover that condition, and at worst will refuse to insure the child. Don't buy over the internet. Go to a local agent, who sells health insurance. They will know the best plans with the most providers in YOUR AREA.
2 :
Try using yellowpages.com to search for health insurance brokers in your area. Don't call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in health insurance. A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state. New York has some very tough and specific state insurance laws. You really need a broker. You may want to look at the Blue Cross Child Health Plus plan it runs from $136 to $177 depending on where in NY you live. You could even pay less based on your income. http://www.empireblue.com/wps/portal/ehpmember?content_path=member/noapplication/f3/s2/t1/pw_ad067426.htm&rootLevel=2&label=Child%20Health%20Plus

yea...sure?
2 :
I'm not sure but I have medicaid and it doesn't cover contacts. They see that as a luxury/accessory item. Try calling your insurance company and asking them. Or you can go to your eye doctor and find out.
3 :
You will have to read your policy or contact the company as each company or policy will have different benefits.
4 :
Most regular health insurance policies do not pay for the costs of routine eye exams, corrective lenses, eyeglass frames, or contact lenses. Insurance coverage for such services is known as vision care insurance. Empire Blue Cross provides several different coverage plans so you will need to speak to someone to find out for sure what is or is not covered.
5 :
if you have vision coverage then your insurance should pay. every policy is different even in the same company/group.
6 :
If it's welfare health insurance, it won't cover contacts. If it's not welfare, it won't cover contacts/vision at all - you need vision insurance.
7 :
No, because health insurance doesn't cover vision services. Vision insurance would though.
8 :
Empire Blue Cross is a big insurance company with many different insurance plans. Some cover contacts, some do not. You need to ask this again and identify specifically the exact name of which one of the many, many plans from Empire Blue Cross is the one that you have.

look for local MHMR clinics, (mental health mental retardation.) they go based on your income, and for me, everything is free. from the psychiatrist, and case worker, and also the meds soon :)
2 :
She may be more rebeliouse than defiant. At any rate. Call/go to your local Social Service office. Tell them the problem and they will refer you. It will be little or no cost. Good Luck.

If I have my child on my employer health insurance, who would be responsible for co-pays etc. after age 18

If I have my child on my employer health insurance, who would be responsible for co-pays etc. after age 18?
They will cover children until age 26 but will I still be responsible for any money due that my child that is an adult doesn't pay. And are there any other insurance options out there for 18 year olds who of course usually don't have a good enough job that supplies insurance.

I have a friend who put her son with Care First & pays $71 a month he is 25 now. So you are free to buy ins. where every you want. I am not sure I understand your question about co-pays. I would assume whatever an adult pays that would be what you adult son or daugher would have to pay.
2 :
Technically, you, the subscriber, can be held responsible for all your "dependents" on your health insurance. The option, is going out there to buy private health insurance. Frankly, if they're healthy and not overweight, it's probably going to be cheaper to buy them a private policy, than go through the group coverage - unless you have other kids already on there.
3 :
You are as the policyholder.
4 :
The adult child (not the primary insured) is responsible for whatever the insurance does not cover - unless you previously agreed in writing with the provider to be the "responsible party." It doesn't make any difference if the coverage is under your policy.
5 :
you are - you are the policyholder - however, you can tell your child that he/she needs to reimburse you for any out of pocket expenses you incur, and you can remove them from your policy at any time.

Would anyone take your 0-5 years of age child to a learning/fun center for children next to a health center

Would anyone take your 0-5 years of age child to a learning/fun center for children next to a health center?
If yes, why and if no why. What would be your concerns if you answered no. Also, would you actually take your child to a learning/fun center, where classes are offered for children and their parents?

why not!
2 :
definitely. why not? it's fun for them, they can make friends, spend time with mom or dad and learn.
3 :
Its a parental thing
4 :
Yes, I would take my children to a learning/fun center that was next to a health center. I really don't see the problem. There are just as many illnesses in the local markets and malls, I would not be concerned about a facility next door where people are going to rid themselves of an illness. Medical assistance would also be readily available if there was an emergency because there is usually a physician there. As for the second part of your ques., I would love to attend a learning center with my children. I think it is a great idea, so far as, bonding with your child. God Bless!
5 :
I guess you are concerned with people who are ill going in and out of the health center. Tell you the truth, I don't know if it's good or bad. I'm interested in the answers too.
6 :
I don't see why not. If you're concerned about your child getting sick (since it's next to a health center), I really doubt that they'd get sick just from that. Plus, it's a proven fact that children need to be around other children to help build up their immune system. If you keep your child away from every person, then when you have to take your baby out in public, the child could get even more sick. However, when you have a newborn I say you should stay at home for at least the first few months. Anyways, back to the question, I would most definetley go to the learning center. I'm always looking for things to do with my children and ways my children can learn.

IS there a DEMAND for Maternal and Child Health NURSES in the U.S

IS there a DEMAND for Maternal and Child Health NURSES in the U.S??
im from Australia and want to be one and i want to come to the u.s and get a job as one there.... is this a good idea.... and what are the job prospects over there??? thanks so much

I don't know about the US but I can tell you you would be in demand in Canada.
2 :
There is more of a demand for the OB doctors or certified midwives than nurses at the moment... especially because the insurance premiums have skyrocketed, and so many can't afford to stay in the field. There are women who have to travel an hour or even more in this country now, just for checkups with their closest doctor let alone to go to the hospital's OB department for any reason. It's a sad situation.
3 :
As far as the medical field goes, you will always have a job. There are always openings somewhere. The trick is that you have to be flexible. The more flexible you are the more job opportunities you'll have.
4 :
There is a severe nursing shortage in the United States. There isn't a hospital system that isn't hiring and unemployment among nurses is practically non-existent. You should be able to find a job!

How is a child’s physical well-being, growth and development linked to their psychological health & well being

How is a child’s physical well-being, growth and development linked to their psychological health & well being?

Psychology - 2 Answers

1 :
It's linked because if they are healthy then they are happy.
2 :
I think a child's physical well-being and growth and development actually have a lot to do with their psychological health because when you know there's somethign wrong with you.. you just see yourself below others automatically.. like you can't match up with them no matter what you do. I think that's just natural in the human mind because when most [i'm not saying everyone] people realize they can't win something.. they just give up. I think that's how it is if there's something wrong with someone physically, they'll never feel like they're as good as someone who has completely normal health and growth. And as sad as that is, i think it is true to an extent because people can make themselves see themselves worse than anyone else in the world because we are all our own worst enemies. =\ i hope that kind of helped you get an answer to your question

The child's health is ignored. Mom will not get a doctor. Will nonbiological dad get child if guilty

The child's health is ignored. Mom will not get a doctor. Will nonbiological dad get child if guilty?
When do you know if it is ok to turn a parent if for what you feel is mental abuse or could this be physical abuse? There are many extreme incidents of this compulsive mother that would cause her to be investigated. However, we are non-biological (dad and grandma). We are so affraid the child will be put in a foster home rather than to let us have him. Any thoughts?

You should talk to a family law lawyer. They might be able to give you some free advice. I think you could go through classes to be foster parents, though, and that would help your case. If non-biological dad ever adopted, there is no problem. If not, it will also probably be considered how long he has been in the child's life. The courts do TRY to do what's best for the child.

10 year old child health advice

10 year old child health advice?
We found out yesterday my 10 year old had protein in her urine. We had to go back this morning with another sample, there was a smaller amount of protein this time, but it was still there. They are doing further testing at this time, but I am still a bit worried. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about this topic.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/protein-in-urine/HQ01277 What did your doctor tell you? I would have grilled him/her on all the likely scenarios as to why my child would have this problem. Never let a doctor intimidate you into being mute, you pay for their services and it is up to them to explain everything to you.
2 :
Usually this means that she is not eating. Ask the doctor questions about other things that it could mean. Has she been losing weight or been sick recently? I hope everything turns out ok...but do talk to the doctor: don't be afraid to ask ANYTHING, that's what they're there for!
3 :
possible low carb diet
4 :
Protein in the urine can be caused by numerous things. Most clear up on their own. However, there could be kidney problems and your doctor will do further tests to find out what is going on. It is probably not something you need to worry about, but because it can at times be kidney related, you need to have all the tests done. I guess your doctor has told you she should not do anything physicaly stressful at the moment.

How do i get my child an i.d card and health insurance

How do i get my child an i.d card and health insurance?
my child's father is in the military and he has not put him on his insurance and is not receiving the benefits he should and doesn't seem like he is anytime soon. We are not married and i was wondering is there anything i could do to get the benefits my child should recieve. I have talked to him and he does nothing.... i do have his SSN i do recieve child support and on the order it says he is responsible for health insurance and etc he is on the birth certificate i have full custody

1 :
Contact your lawyer. I am not certain but I do not believe - since you were not married - that the child is entitled to benefit of health care and ID card. The father is responsible for child support as stipulated by whatever state you live in-- and what the courts deem as fair and reasonable.
2 :
go to the closest military base or armory and ask to speak with someone who has access to DEERS. its the electronic system the military uses to link dependants to their military parents for benefits. you will need to provide a birth certificate with the childs father's name listed on the birth cert. you will also need the childs social security card. it would be very helpful if you had the fathers social security nukmber as well so they can look him up to add dependants. once the child has been entered into DEERS they will issue an ID depending on the childs age. if the child is too young they will not issue an ID. i think 1st grade is the earliest they will ussue an ID. THEN..... once you have your child enrolled in DEERS you need to get on the internet and enroll your child in Tricare for health benefits. This is where you will DEFINITELY need the childs fathers information. once you complete the application, print it and fax it in. you will receive insurance cards for you child within a couple weeks, but benefits will be instant once the enrollment package is received and processed. once you are in DEERS and Tricare, you can begin using benefits immediately, so if your little bugger gets sick or needs any help, you just go to the doctor and get him/her taken care of. there should NEVER be a fee involved with services. sometimes you MIGHT have to pay a partial fee for prescriptions and other take home items, but the actual service will not cost you a single penny.
3 :
The first step is making sure he has a copy of your child's birth certificate, assumimig it has his name on it. Without that, or some other proof he is the father, he will get nothing. If he is paying you child support then he is screwing himself by not claiming your child because that would make him eligible to get extra money in the form of BAH-DIFF. If he isn't getting any benefits at all then that probably means he didn't even mention he has a child. If he did then a possible reason he did it was because saying he had a child would have stopped his enlistment. Do you have full custody or joint custody with him? If you don't have full custody then he probably neglected to tell the military he had a child due to the fact that he would have been ineligible for enlistment based on him having joint custody with you. That would explain his hesitation, considering that he could be charged with fraudulent enlistment for concealing a dependent.
4 :
If they are his dependents (as stated by the court) either he can personally take them to PSD and ID and enroll in DEERS and get ID cards, or he can go to PSD have them added to his Page 2 entered into DEERS and fill out a form at ID mail it to you and you take them to ID so they can get their dependent ID. But really do you need to worry about health care, Obama-care will be here soon!
5 :
Get to DEERS. Enrollment in DEERS automatically enrolls you in health care. IF your child has a problem (IE: becomes sick and hospitalized), then the coverage will pick up once he's enrolled since he's already eligible. Just because he's not enrolled... doesn't mean he's not getting the benefits. If he does get sick, then your child's father can enroll him in DEERS, and they will pick up anything from the original eligible point. (Even before enrollment.) Oh and you don't get an insurance card. Your insurance card is your military ID, or in this case, your child's. The policy number is your child's father's SSN.
6 :
you must have a court order for both child support and requiring the father to enroll the child into DEERS and get Tricare(medical Inurance). with one in hand you can contact the command and ask that it be enforced.
7 :
I would look at a website like http://healthinsuranceconnection.info/ They show the rates of all the health insurance companies and provide which price would be the cheapest for your situation.
