Why does Bush spend 80 billion a Month for Iraq war but vetos 75 billion over 5 years for a child health bill

Why does Bush spend 80 billion a Month for Iraq war but vetos 75 billion over 5 years for a child health bill?
Is it because he likes killing more then healing?

Well, that's sort of like asking why a tricycle costs 75 bucks and car costs 23,000. You can't compare the two items. Bush offered to raise the dollar figure on SCHIP by a perfectly reasonable amount, but the Dems decided to use the program for political purposes and secure a HUGE increase that is both unnecessary and wasteful. Once again, you lose.
2 :
as a so-called Christian Bush has demonstrated his dedication to making WAR and Killling a profitable business in Iraq while ignoring the humanitarian effort of 'blessing" our children with the same decent health care coverage he and his family enjoys!!!!!! such a paradox!!!!!!
3 :
did you just read the headlines of the story or did you actually read the details of the bills themselves? every single child health bill that the democrats have been presenting have been extremely flawed in one way or another, especially since they were trying to raise the taxes on a pack of cigarettes to over $1 and they only targetted smokers because they are an easier target than alcoholics or gamblers since smokers are "the devil". here is an idea for the government, legalize online gambling in all forms and tax the hell out of it to support things like this. the taxes from that could pay for all the dumb ideas the democrats have. EDIT - nonames, why dont you try to learn about the bills before you talk like you know anything at all. how about this? i dont care to have my tax money go to people whose parents cant get off their ass and get a job and get insurance for their family.
4 :
Ummm, he's not a socialist? The Republicans created the program in the first place and my party extended it to include adults and lower middle-class families? They wanted more money to extend it more and President Bush said, "No" to prevent another way of forcing our medical system to go even more socialist (we've already taken much of the competition out of it, so there's already little to no reason for them to lower prices). Universal Healthcare? Easy way to be sure our taxes will go through the roof, as every medical business has NO reason to compete. Free money, slave labor. Us.
5 :
give it a rest, you libs really love bullshit.kid health care for people making over $ 50,000 + income. don't think so! not out my pocket bozo.......
6 :
because the health bill is a massive pork project which serves little good from the liberals and the war protects this country from al qaeda...and by the way the color of george washingtons white horse was white if you catch my meaning...next ...thoughtful...question...lmfao.
7 :
The survival of the Republic is at stake. The preamble specifically states, "Provide for the Common Defense, Promote the General Welfare".
8 :
You obviously didn't read the bill. I did. It would have provided free medical care to children whose parents earn up to $80,000 a year. The SCHIP program was set up to give free medical care to children whose parents were the "working poor". Folks who made just too much to qualify for Medicaid. Eighty grand to me is not working poor.
9 :
It will move kids whose parents make up to $83,000 a year onto government health care, when their parents can clearly pay for it. That and a 150% increase on the tobacco tax. When they where first taking about the bill he said he was all for it, then they moved it up to $83,000 and he said that was to much. The Democrats have said his veto will be a victory for them and help them win more seats in 2008. They moved it up to get a veto, to play the people and get vote instead of helathcare for kids. They do not care about heathcare, they care about winning elections.

Why is it you post a Political question in the MILITARY section??

How do you get the IEP team to schedule the IEP when a child is struggling health wise & team is delaying

How do you get the IEP team to schedule the IEP when a child is struggling health wise & team is delaying?
Our child qualifies under OHI and Speech & Lang. for an IEP. We have given several dates to meet for an IEP to talk about changes that need need to be made in his IEP. The school keeps delaying, and our child has already missed half the school year due to his disability and an inappropriate IEP. His health is getting worse everytime they are not following the IEP and continuing to delay holding a new one. What do we do?

1 :
I'm a little confused, if your child is or is not already on an IEP. If they are not there needs to be an evaluation first done by the school. Then an IEP would follow based on the educational needs in the evaluation. Then you talk about changes to be made to his IEP so maybe that part has been done and you are wanting to change something. IF your child has missed a certain number of days in a row (different by states) because of health reasons - there should be home services provided. Your first stop should be the case manager, next stop the director of special ed. I am not sure what health issues he has that are getting worse by something in the IEP if you care to provide something more specific - could probably come up with and answer that is more specific.
2 :
Speak to your school's principal and contact the Director of Special Education. File a formal complaint. Contact an advocacy agency to help you communicate your needs/requests to the school district. How does his health get worse if the IEP isn't followed? Is there something in particular in the IEP that is health related that the nurse or school staff is supposed to do (give meds, follow feeding swallowing guidelines set by medical staff, tube feeding, etc...). If it is that kind of health related issue, then you REALLY need to get pushy and get the district administrators involved. You can also contact your states Office of Special Education through the state's Education Agency.
3 :
Put it in writing. There are laws that have to be followed. If you ask for a new IEP every day, then every day give them a new letter in writing. They do nothing verbally.
4 :
Under the federal law called IDEA, an IEP meeting must be held within 30 days of request. This request, as well as ALL other requests, should be done in writing. Now that they have been delaying and it is causing your child harm, I suggest writing a more detailed letter. Something like this: Dear Special Ed Director, On _________, 2008, I requested an IEP meeting to discuss my son's current placement and services. The school gave us a date of _____, 2008 but then cancelled and rescheduled for _______, 2008. This was cancelled as well and rescheduled for ______, 2008. Under IDEA, an IEP meeting must be held within 30 days of my request. It has now been _____ weeks/months. The district is out of compliance. If an IEP meeting is not held within 10 days of this request, we will be forced to file a compliance complaint. The district's delay is causing my son harm. His current IEP is inadequate to address my son's needs and needs to be revised as soon as possible. In the next 10 days, I am available on these dates at times: [list 4 or 5 dates and times to meet]. Further, please consider this my formal notification that I will be tape recording this and all future IEP meetings. I look forward to receiving an IEP Meeting Notice immediatelly indicating a meeting date within the next 10 days." Make sure you make two copies of the letter. Bring both the the school district office and have them both date and time stamped and initialed. Keep one for your records as proof of delivery. Please go to our website listed below under "Downloads and Information" and do some reading about your rights. Also check out www.wrightslaw.com. You need to educate yourself on your rights and your son's rights. Feel free to contact me through our web site below.

I want to be a child health advocate, what do I need

I want to be a child health advocate, what do I need?
Now, I dont want this as a career. I want to volunteer. I want to go around to local highschools and teach to them. I am still somewhat young (25). Dont you remember all those guest speakers you had in school? I want to teach them about AIDS, sex, pregnany, Love, STDS, All sorts of things that kids nowadays usually ignore. Do I need any special certification??

yes, no position (even volunteer) allows you to be around children in a school setting with no training alot of those people aren't volunteers and they have majored in speech or sociology
2 :
A class in health & human services may come in handy, but a formal degree is not needed. Most child advocates are volunteers, and require minimal training. Volunteers need to possess a genuine interest in the well-being of children as well as other vital interpersonal skills, such as good communication skills Court-appointed advocate volunteers need to be objective, responsible, and committed. Most advocacy groups specialize in some specific aspect of children's needs, focusing on children with special health needs, for instance, or working to provide comprehensive health care for all children, including therapeutic and rehabilitative services, psychological treatment for the trauma of abuse, or necessary appliances such as eyeglasses. They might provide the parents of children with disabilities with information, assistance support, or all of these. Some child advocates are individuals who are appointed by a juvenile court judge. They work with the court system to prevent abuse, or to place neglected or abused children in a safe living environment, such as a foster home.
3 :
contact your local Planned Parenthood. here in LA they have groups of adults who do exactly what you seek. I myself was a volunteer for several years, going around to high schools to talk about all that stuff. you're trained in how to deal with all situations and people, as well as the facts. It's great fun, but you have to be available during regular school hours and not renege on your commitments. I liked it and then got a job that didn't allow for it. please contact me if you live in the LA area and want contact info. thanks.

What would you want your child's health care provider to wear

What would you want your child's health care provider to wear?
If you took your child to a health care provider (dentist, doctor etc.) what would you want the doctor to wear? whiet coat? Shirt and Tie? Business casual? scrubs?

Males usually where a dress shirt and a white coat. and femals normally where business casual and a white coat.
2 :
Of course doctors are expected to wear lab coats or scrubs or white coat. Seldom will you find doctors who wear shirt and tie during examination with his or her patients and even business casual wear. But as for me I'd rather choose a doctor who wears a lab coat or a scrub. However the most important thing is that the doctor must be really credible and effective no matter what he or she wears.

Yes your child gets health benefits
2 :
Your child would get the heath bennies, but she/he would have to be living with you to get anything else, like housing, etc.
3 :
Your child will be entitled to health benefits , but you don't get extra compensation.
4 :
Your child will get health benefits and and ID card. Retired U.S. Army
5 :
If you put the child on your DD1172 (DEERS) form. then yes and th emother get the I D card and knows your SSN, then yes.
6 :
The answer is yes. It is Tri-care.
7 :
Your child will receive medical benefits, and if you have to pay child support you may receive partial BAH (but this MUST go to the mother).
8 :
If she lives with her mom the thought is that you should get her an ID Card for medical benefits. You will need to enroll her in DEERS. You will need the birth certificate and proof that you are providing the child support.

What is the age cutoff of a child's health insurance under parents plan

What is the age cutoff of a child's health insurance under parents plan?
I just heard that President Obama signed into law that allows health insurance coverage for a child under a parents policy up to age 27. Is that correct?

right now, its 23 if the child is still in school.ie college. Its a good thing for the age to be raised, I think. It makes sense, as most people that age do not think of it, nor can they afford it, and who pays when something terrible happens? the parents.
3 :
I would think as long as your enrolled into school or college that you could be under your parents plan
4 :
Depends on the particular plan. I was allowed on my mother's health plan as long as I was a FT college student up to age 26.
5 :
It depends on what plan you have. I'm on my mother's plan until I'm 26, no matter what, college or no- but it's not the same across the board. You need to check with your or your parents' insurance provider.
6 :
Have a check first with your insurance company or your insurance agent. It actually depends on the insurance that your parents enrolled but usually 22 will be the cut off. If in college, you can still be covered provided that the insurance is permitting it ;) You can also find additional information on this one when you read on this site that i use for insurance references ;) Hope this one helps! Goodluck on you :)
7 :
23 if you are full time student. If not full time student 21.

Is this hazardous to my child's health when i wrap their lunch sandwich in alumium foil

Is this hazardous to my child's health when i wrap their lunch sandwich in alumium foil?
I usually wrap my child's sandwich (slice of bread and salami or ham etc) in aluminum foil. They prefer it this way because they say that the tables at school are so yucky. So they can unfold their sandwich and lay it down inbetween bites. I thought that was ideal, until somebody just told me that it was a health hazard because of the aluminum. IS THIS TRUE? WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD?
Other - Food & Drink - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I have never heard such nonsense in all my life!
2 :
well seeing how aluminum is sold as a food wrap, i'd say you are safe. now i can see how you may run into problems if you are heating things up in foil. regardless it can't be any worse than your kids drinking out of an aluminum pop can. try using wax paper or deli paper if it makes you that uncomfortable! you can get deli paper here they are pre-cut and perfectly sized for wrapping up a sandwich. http://www.servu-online.com/Disposables/Cole-Harford-COLZ-1208.asp good luck!
3 :
Studies have linked aluminum in the blood stream with Alzheimer's disease. Aluminum is common in many substances such as deodorant. I would not worry about their intake from foil wrap, unless they are eating the foil, the possibility of ingestion is minimal. I agree with the poster above, however, if concerned, use an alternate wrap.
4 :
Aluminum occurs naturally in many foods. It's pretty unlikely that setting their sandwich down on aluminum foil is harmful to your child's health. Now, if they finish every meal by eating the foil, that might not be good. But a kid would have to be pretty weird to do that. There is nothing harmful about putting food on aluminum foil.
5 :
Not true. Just tell them not to do anything dangerous with it like eating it or bite on it and point out that it can be sharp.
