What are some reasons why parent's are responsible for their child's health? Why?
I need help, in my English class we're learning about childhood obesity. We learned that fast foods industries are not the only ones responsible for the increase of childhood obesity but also parents as well are responsible too. Why do you think they influence their child's health and sometimes contribute to their child's obesity problem if their child as it or not?

I think it is absurd to pin childhood obesity on the fast food chains. That would be like blaming alcoholism on the beer companies. The parents are totally responsible for their childrens eating habits. The children can only eat what they are served. I haven't seen many eight year olds drive thru McDonald's drive thru lately. The parents are supplying it. The parents are the ones who create the eating habits of their children. My kids won't eat every single vegetable or fuit that exists, but you find the ones they do like and you work it into a well balanced diet. It is rediculous, and should be considered abuse, that some parents are poisoning their children, and setting them up for a lifetime ( a short lifetime ) of health problems.

Parents are responsible for their kids' health because -- they're the parents! It's their job, not only morally but legally...what's so complicated about that?

Whats complicated is the fact a child can not walk down the street without having been influenced by fast food chains. Their giant signs and billboards. Their jingles etc. You can tell your kid NO. Thats the easy part. Especially if u are firm. But at the end of the day, you cant walk down the street. Turn on the TV without some form of brainwashing going on. Its not the parents fault. They need to restrict advertising and get those shite commercials off tv. Its like parents know their is a problem. But if the surrounding world is fighting against their cause for a healthy kid. How are they going to win?
